Ku, Hyun-ju Partner
Hyun-Ju Ku is a partner at Hannuri Law whose practice focuses on shareholder activism, shareholder rights and corporate governance. She advises leading domestic and international activist and engagement-focused funds, institutional investors including pension funds, and private equity firms on corporate governance and shareholder rights matters involving Korean listed companies.
Her practice spans the full spectrum of shareholder engagement, from private dialogue with management and boards to public campaigns, shareholder proposals, director and audit committee elections, and proxy contests. She helps investors develop and execute strategies tailored to their objectives, guiding them through negotiations, shareholder meetings and related disputes. She also represents investors in corporate control disputes, advises on responses to tender offers, and handles related litigation and applications for injunctive relief.
Her practice also includes advising special committees on transactions involving conflicts of interest.
Ms. Ku’s broader practice encompasses securities and financial litigation and class actions. She assists Korean institutional and individual investors in participating in overseas class actions and pursuing redress.
Ms. Ku holds an LL.B. from Seoul National University and a J.D. from Yonsei University Law School.
